Surge Hand (Independent Hand)

The Surge Hand is Alt-Bionics’ high-performance independent robotic hand designed for
humanoid and industrial manipulation. Built around a modular finger architecture to minimize downtime,
Surge focuses on stable real-world grasping via rubberized contact surfaces, with a published
lifting capacity up to 40 lb (~18.1 kg) per hand. Optional advanced fingertip force sensing is listed as
“coming soon” for finer contact-rich tasks.

Why Surge

  • Fast maintenance: modular fingers enable quick repair or replacement to reduce downtime.
  • Secure real-world grasps: rubberized fingertips and palmar surfaces increase contact and stability.
  • Built for teleoperation & learning: public demos show human-in-the-loop control workflows for manipulation development.
  • Upgrade path: optional advanced force sensing is listed as an upcoming capability.
